George Washington’s Gavel in Greenville

Greenville Masonic Lodge#143 will be hosting the George Washington Gavel on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 12:00pm.The gavel will escorted by four brothers from Potomac Lodge #5 in Washington D.C. We will be initiating a new candidate with the gavel, the degree work will done by the traveling Colonial Degree Team from the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Afterwards we will be having a dinner downstairs. The dinner will be marinated pork chops and au gratin potatoes, vegetable, desert and dinner roll, the cost of the meal is $10. Drinks will be included. We will need to know how many brothers from your lodge is going to attend. THIS IS A PRESALE TICKET ONLY DINNER. There will be no tickets sales for the meal the day of the dinner. This is going to be a big event so please reserve early.
​Along with the gavel on display we have authentic George Washington signatures and a letter from Gen. ( Mad ) Antony Wayne who was one of Washington’s generals. There will be other artifacts from the period on display as well.
Please contact Greenville Lodge on how many tickets you will need so we can mail your tickets to you. The last day for reservations will be April 15, 2017. We are also planning a Lady’s event downstairs while the degree work is going on upstairs.
If you cannot make it for the degree work we are opening the lodge up to the public at 3:30pm to view the gavel and dinner, same rules apply for this dinner, Presale ticket for the dinner.
The George Washington Gavel is one of our nations prized artifacts, it was especialy made for George Washington to be used for the cornerstone laying of the U.S. Capitol Building on September 18, 1793. Since then numerous U.S. Presidents have used it in ceremonies the last being Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Ron Re wins Rufus T. Putnam Award

Our own worshipful Brother Ron Re was the recipient of the Rufus T. Putman Award this year at Grand Lodge in Sharonville, OH.  This award is given to a brother who has gone above and Ron Re Rufus Article 2beyond in his masonic and professional life.  Very few are even considered and  we are very proud to have not one, but TWO such award winners in our lodge.  Several years ago Brother (Col.) Mike Jackson was given the award.   A great honor to a great mason!
